As the work week progresses, and your inbox begins to fill up with new emails, your stress becomes high and you feel like you're on the verge of freaking out. What you really need is to find a moment and relax. But unfortunately you're stuck at work and there isn't always time to go to yoga or for a relaxing massage.
So help combat those stressful moments at work we've rounded up some simple tips to help you relax in only a matter of minutes.
From drinking herbal loose leaf tea, to changing your breathing, these changes will help you calm down during the tough times.
Remember to Breathe
: Even something as simple as breathing can make all of the difference when you're feeling stressed out. But without even realizing it when we get stressed out, many of us hold our breath — or at least breathe much shallower than we should. When you take a few deep breaths it will help you get focused and relax.
Chew on Gum
When you chew on a minty, fruity, or bubble-gum flavored piece of gum, it's a surprisingly simple way to beat stress. Just a few minutes of chewing can actually reduce anxiety.
When your brain can't stop running and you can't seem to relax, try slowly counting to ten and then back to one again to calm down.
Squeeze a Stress Ball
The next time your boss is driving you mad, or you feel like strangling your roommate, a simple way to ease stress in a simple and non-violent way is to squeeze a stress ball. Not to mention it's extremely portable and you can carry one everywhere.
In case you don't have time to take a yoga or fitness class to help calm yourself down, a few simple stretches will do the trick. Standing up for a quick stretch can relieve muscle tension and help you relax during a stressful workday. Try rolling your shoulders back, or stretching your arms above your head.
Talk to Someone
When something’s really bothering you, it can really help to open up and talk to someone. Call up a friend or family member, or reach out to a coworker. Venting will help you relax.
Finally a great way to calm yourself down is to make a warm cup of tea. Have a cup of loose leaf green tea as it's made with L-Theanine, a chemical that can actually help relieve anger.
